What TF is an Autumn Equinox?  Cut The Dramatics and Just Say the End of Summer.

Where did the time even go? One second I'm frantically slathering SPF 50 on the faces of my 10-year-old and her besties as they rejoice that "black don't burn" and paying $18 for a watered-down lemonade on the sidelines of a soccer pitch, and the next, the calendar is screaming September and I'm staring at a receipt for $400 worth of school supplies that I will never see again.

People act like a summer solstice is some mystical Gandalf-level wizardry, but let’s be honest: it’s just the universe’s cruel, high-speed way of slamming the breaks on daylight and speeding up time the second school lets out. Weekends became impossible 48-hour sprints of soccer games, stepping on stray cat toys in bare feet, and hiding in my car with lukewarm wine or an energy refresher from Starbucks, just to catch a breath.

We romanticized the whole season like it was a magical rom-com montage. The reality? 98 degrees with 90 percent humidity, thighs aggressively sticking to any seats, paying $9 for a soft-serve cone that melted down a kid's arm in three seconds flat, and questioning every life choice that led to me drinking colon prep over the kitchen sink at 2 AM.

If we don't count the hours spent with my Soccer Mamas, then somewhere amidst the chaos, I managed exactly two adult activities all summer—both spent with my best friends and an irresponsible amount of wine, a pathetic ratio that has convinced me I definitely need about twenty more of those next year.

Yet, amidst the messy car seats, the mountains of damp towels, and the sheer exhaustion of parenting through the glare, it was pure magic. It was sticky milkshakes at Terry's, endless sleepovers and soccer training, and tiny black ass kids asleep in the back seat.

Now the air has a sudden, crisp bite, pumpkin-spiced garbage and candy corn is already invading the grocery store, and I’m left standing in the kitchen wondering how three entire months vanished into thin air between folding laundry and packing lunchboxes. Though I could go for a Spiced Carmel Apple... Oh well... farewell to the season of chaos, short weekends, day-drinking regrets, and beautiful exhaustion. We survived it, barely, and I wouldn't trade a single sweaty second.
